Who we are
Metiq is a software service for Indian CA and CS firms. In data terms, your firm decides what client data goes into the service and why; we process that data on your firm’s instructions to run the service.
Data the service processes
- Account data — names, email addresses, roles and login activity for your firm’s team members.
- Client records — client names, contact details, registered WhatsApp numbers, and identifiers your firm records for compliance work (such as PAN, GSTIN, CIN and TAN) as part of a client’s filing profile.
- Documents — files and photos your clients send over WhatsApp, and the information extracted from them for checklists and workpapers.
- Messages — WhatsApp conversations between your firm (through the service) and your clients, and questions your team asks the assistants.
- Usage and audit logs — what was sent, received, processed, filed or amended, and metered usage against plan limits.
- Support correspondence — emails you send us.
Why we process it
Only to operate the service: computing deadlines, chasing and receiving documents, preparing workpapers and packets, answering status and research questions, enforcing plan limits, keeping the audit trail, and supporting your firm. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use one firm’s data to serve another firm.
How AI is used
Documents are read using OCR and AI models running in our cloud environment so they can be classified and their contents extracted for your checklists and workpapers. The staff research assistant answers from a curated corpus of rules and approved circulars and must cite its sources; the client status assistant does not use a generative model at all — it answers from your firm’s live records. Extracted data and answers are shown to your team, who remain responsible for reviewing filings before submission.
Who else is involved
- Cloud hosting and processing providers (including Amazon Web Services) run the infrastructure the service operates on.
- Meta / WhatsApp carries the messages between the service and WhatsApp users, under WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
- Payment processors, when paid plans are purchased, handle payment details; we do not store card numbers.
- Authorities, only where disclosure is required by law.
Storage and security
Every firm’s records are stored partitioned by firm, documents are stored encrypted, and console access requires an authenticated session with role-based permissions. Client status answers are given only to the one WhatsApp number the firm registered for that client. No security is perfect, but isolation and minimisation are built into the product’s design rather than added as policy.
Retention
Firm and client records are kept while the account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards for audit and legal obligations. Assistant chat transcripts are retained for up to 180 days and then expire. When a firm’s account is closed, its records are made available for export for a reasonable period and then deleted, except where the law requires longer retention.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, individuals have rights in relation to their personal data, including access, correction and erasure, subject to legal limits. If you are a firm’s client, please contact your firm first — they control your record in the service. Firms can reach us at support@metiq.in for data requests and grievances, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Cookies and this website
This marketing website sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The firm console uses essential session storage so you stay signed in on your device; it does not run third-party advertising trackers.
Children
Metiq is a business service for professional firms and is not directed at children.
