What can we ask Metiq?
Deadlines and workload, one client’s filing status and history, the documents you are chasing, whether a report is in the vault, the GSTR-1/GSTR-2B return checks against the 3B, invoice-by-invoice reconciliation against the 2B, penalties, due-date extensions and their impact on your clients, plus how-to guides and cited circulars — in English or Hinglish. The full list, section by section, is on the Asking Metiq page.
Does Metiq file our GST returns on the portal?
No — deliberately. Metiq prepares workpapers and portal-ready files, fetches the portal’s reports into your vault, and your team reviews and submits on the portal. A partner or article should never be surprised by what was filed in the firm’s name.
How do the report downloads work — do you need our clients’ portal passwords?
Downloads never need a stored password: the helper fetches reports through your firm’s own signed-in portal session, and downloads auto-start once you tick what is missing. Separately, when a client asks your firm to hold their login, it can live in the encrypted credential vault — and when it is used, it only auto-fills the login form; a person still clicks Login.
Can we pull a client’s whole year of reports in one go?
Yes — the bulk download on the client’s Reports tab. Tick several report types (or Select all), choose the months — the current financial year, the last 1 year, or any one financial year back to FY 2017–18 — and the helper fetches the set in one run. Reports already held are skipped, unfiled periods come back as “not filed”, and an interrupted run resumes without re-downloading what already landed.
Can Metiq check whether a client’s GSTR-3B matches their GSTR-1 and GSTR-2B?
Yes — the return checks on the client’s Reports tab. Pick a month and Metiq compares the filed GSTR-1 with the GSTR-3B (sales and tax) and the ITC claimed in the 3B’s Table 4A(5) with the suppliers’ reported invoices in the GSTR-2B, from the reports already in the vault (the 3B as its data (JSON) download). A difference comes back with the exact figure and the usual causes; a clean month simply says it matches. Export the check as an Excel or PDF workpaper for the client file. The checks are read-only and compare summary totals; for invoice-level matching, Invoice reconciliation sits on the same tab (next question).
Can we reconcile the GSTR-2B with the client’s purchase register, invoice by invoice?
Yes — Invoice reconciliation, on the client’s Reports tab. Import the month’s purchase register from Tally, BUSY or a spreadsheet (or use our template): the dry run shows the column mapping it will use and validates every row — a bad GSTIN, a missing invoice number or an unreadable date blocks that row and says why; warnings never block. The run then sorts every invoice into matched, value differences (shown field by field), in the 2B but not in the books (ITC not yet booked), in the books but not in the 2B (ITC at risk), and possible matches (the same invoice with what looks like a typo — suggestions only, never matched for you). Run it for one month or the financial year to date; clicking a summary number opens that bucket. Export the workpaper (Excel or PDF), or the at-risk invoices as a vendor follow-up list grouped by supplier. Imports are versioned — re-importing a month keeps the earlier version — and the reconciliation never edits a filing, a deadline or a report.
We have QRMP clients. Are they handled?
Yes. Quarterly filers under the QRMP scheme run on their own cycle inside the same calendar, worklist and chasing flow as your monthly filers — the team never maintains a separate quarterly tracker.
What happens when a GST notice arrives?
Upload it once. AI classifies the notice — ASMT-10, DRC-01B, GSTR-3A — it is entered in the notices register, and its response deadline is tracked alongside your filing deadlines, so a reply date is never discovered after it has passed.
Can our clients check their own filing status?
Yes. Each client can ask Metiq on WhatsApp — “is my GSTR-3B filed?”, “what is pending from my side?” — and gets a status-only answer from your firm’s live records. It works only from the one number registered for that client, and advice questions are routed to your team, never answered by the bot.
How do we bring our existing client list in?
By CSV or XLSX import. A duplicate guard keeps the same client from entering the book twice, GSTINs are checksum-validated at capture, and each client’s filing profile — GSTIN, TAN, applicability — is set once and drives every deadline from then on.
